iPhone 17 Pro Gets Gaming-Grade Vapour Chamber, and Apple Wants You to Notice

Apple UK has released a new television ad for the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max models. With the powerful new A19 Pro application processor (AP) powering the two Pro=branded phones, Apple was concerned that its premium handsets would literally be hot, as in hot to the touch, when the APs were handling complex tasks. So this year's iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max models feature a simple tool used to dissipate the heat generated by the processor and move it away from the vulnerable chipset.

Cooler performance boost

TL;DR

  • Apple’s iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max feature a vapor chamber to manage A19 Pro chip heat.

  • The vapor chamber moves heat away from the CPU, keeping performance stable under heavy tasks.

  • Apple wasn’t first to use this tech, but highlights it cleverly in a 30-second desert-themed ad.

  • The ad visually shows the chip’s cooling power with feats of speed, strength, and multitasking.

  • iPhone 17 Pro stays cool to the touch, ensuring peak performance without overheating your hands.

Apple UK has rolled out a new television commercial for the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max, and this time the message isn’t about cameras, design, or satellite features — it’s about cooling. With the new A19 Pro chip capable of pushing desktop-level performance, Apple is publicly highlighting a feature it has never needed to talk about before: a vapour chamber.

The 17 Pro lineup includes a metal, liquid-filled chamber designed to draw heat away from the processor and prevent thermal slowdown during demanding tasks. As the A19 Pro heats up, the liquid inside turns to vapour and moves away from the heat source, then condenses in cooler areas and returns to repeat the cycle. The result is more stable temperatures and sustained performance even under pressure.

Although this is a first for the iPhone, vapour chambers are far from new in the mobile space. ASUS introduced the technology in gaming phones back in 2018, while Samsung and LG also adopted similar cooling systems in some of their devices. Apple is arriving late to the trend, but it is the first company to bring it front and centre in a polished, consumer-facing campaign.

The 30-second advert uses narrative rather than technical explanation. It opens on a lone runner struggling across a scorching desert landscape, drenched in sweat. Thunder rumbles in the distance. A single drop of rain lands on his skin — and suddenly his energy surges. A voiceover delivers the key line: “The Apple A19 Pro chip is vapor-cooled. When you run cool, you can push your limits and juggle serious workloads effortlessly.”

From there, the visuals escalate. The runner sprints forward, playing a never-ending piano keyboard with one hand while solving a Rubik’s Cube with the other, performing exaggerated tasks meant to represent the phone’s improved stability under load. The ad ends with the slogan “Vapor cooled for serious performance,” followed by a shot of the A19 Pro chip and the iPhone 17 Pro in the new Cosmic Orange finish.

For long-time iPhone users, the change should be noticeable. During prolonged use — whether gaming, streaming, or multitasking — the iPhone 17 Pro feels noticeably cooler in the hand and is less likely to throttle performance to keep temperatures under control. Apple’s new campaign makes it clear: heat management has become a headline feature, and the company wants consumers to know that this year’s Pro models are built to stay fast where it counts.
