Samsung Z Fold 6 Lite Leaks & Launch Hints

Apple vs. Android.
TL;DR

  • Rumors suggest the rumored affordable Galaxy Z Fold 6 might have a separate launch in September or October.

  • Samsung might only ship a small batch (200,000-300,000 units) of the cheaper Fold 6 initially.

  • The budget Fold 6 might not support the S Pen, as previously rumored.

Samsung's usual launch window for its foldable phones is around August, but whispers suggest a shift in plans. A Korean publication, The Elec, reports that production for the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Z Fold 6 is starting two to three weeks earlier than usual, hinting at an earlier launch date.

This aligns with recent rumors of an expedited release for the upcoming devices. The report also suggests that the rumored, more affordable Galaxy Z Fold 6 model won't be unveiled at the same event. Instead, it might debut sometime in September or October.  This launch window could potentially see the cheaper Fold 6 launch alongside the iPhone 16 series, considering Apple usually releases iPhones in September or October.

The publication also claims that Samsung is only planning to ship a limited number of the cheaper Fold 6 units initially, targeting between 200,000 and 300,000 units. Additionally, reports suggest this more affordable Fold 6 might be thinner than the standard Fold 6, which itself is rumored to be thinner than its predecessor, the Galaxy Z Fold 5. Another difference is the supposed lack of S Pen support for the cheaper Fold 6, which coincides with earlier rumors.

This isn't the only leak regarding a more affordable Samsung foldable doing the rounds recently. Another source claimed earlier this week that a sub-$800 foldable from Samsung is in the works. Speculation suggests this could be a cheaper Galaxy Z Flip model, considering the standard Flip typically retails for $999. Regardless, these reports offer promising news for those hoping for a more budget-friendly foldable option from Samsung later this year.
